Future Biggest Losers

Tony is 31, a Operations Rep from Edina, MN. Amber is 28, a Loan Specialist from Mounds View, MN. Together we are competing in the Biggest Loser Million Pound Match-up to help motivate ourselves to finally lose this weight, and to win of course!!

Tony and I have been dating for 6 months now and have decided that its time to combine our drive and ambition and lose this weight together. We each need to lose a significant amount of weight, more than we can lose during this challenge, but the challenge is a great opportunity to get a start on this life changing adventure.

We would like to lose the weight to be healthier and more energetic, to feel better about ourselves and to live longer. We are not following a specific diet, just cutting out unhealthy food, lowering our calorie intake, making healthier food choices, and getting active.

We are going to keep each other motivated by blogging on this site, holding each other accountable for our daily food choices and exercise, and by sticking to a contract we’ve developed that gives us rewards for reaching our goals or punishments for not reaching them.

We should… make that Will, win this contest because we are motivated, determined, and driven to lose weight together… and because we’re both very competitive and hate losing….

Week 7 - Back at it

Finally, I broke the 280 barrier. I can't even begin to tell you how sick I was of the scale saying the same thing every day for 4 weeks! I hope I never see the number 280 again, especially on a scale!!! I lost 3 pounds since last week. I still have 7 more pounds to go and 9 days to do it. Not sure if I will make it, but I can tell you I'm gonna try hard!!! Things are becoming a little more routine now, so its not as hard to stick to. Wish me luck! Will update again next week!!!

Week 6 - Where did the time go

Wow, its week 6 already. I can't believe its been 3 weeks since my last blog entry. I guess alot has happened in the last 3 weeks. Not alot of changes to my weight unfortunately, but lots of stuff going on in my life. Tony and I are no longer together, but we are both still going to be working on our weight loss. It will be more difficult now without the support and team approach to it, but I still want it just as bad. Yesterday I started back on my program. I decided one thing I was doing wrong was not setting short term goals. I have decided that setting short term goals will motivate me more than looking at the big picture. Instead of saying wow, I have 80 pounds to go, I will just be focusing on my short term goals until I reach my long term goal. The goal is still out there, but the smaller accomplishments will be good motivators. My first short term goal is to lose 10 pounds by my friends birthday party on March 7th. I haven't seen her for about 5 years and it would be nice to be able to say I've changed alot since we last saw each other. So, starting yesterday I have 10 pounds to lose in 17 days. I think I can do it!! I think my next short term goal will be to lose another 10 pounds by my birthday on March 30th. I'll have a little longer, 23 days to lose it. If I make both goals I'll be 20 pounds closer to my goal of 80 pounds to lose!! Wish me luck!!!

Week 3

Ok, its week 3 for Tony and I. Our loss results this week are not as good as we would like. I'm at the same weight and Tony gained 1 pound :( We found out another big problem of ours. We do really good at work, but on the weekends or days when we're not working, we totally slack. At Tony's work they have started a healthy breakfast and lunch group where they each take turns bringing something for everyone to eat that is healthy and that really works well for him. I have my Lean Cuisine meals at work and try to go to the gym in the building at least 3 times a week. But when we are at home, especially when we're out or have friends over, we eat really bad. We did manage to make it to the gym together this week, that was nice. We are going to try to do that more often. So, we know our weaknesses and our triggers, so now its up to us to deal with them. More updates soon!

Week 2 - Amber's Blog

What happened to my motivation?

So…. In the beginning of last week I was super motivated and ready for this competition, but by the end of the week… that all changed. The last few days I have been lazy and eating really bad. I have given in to all of my temptations and cravings. Tony and I discussed the reason for it and couldn’t come up with the reason so we came up with some solutions instead. One of the things I’m missing is motivation…. I have become complacent and comfortable with my size and weight. Sometimes I don’t feel like I really need to lose the weight and that I should just be happy how I am… So Tony gave me some good ideas, he said to photo shop a picture of myself and make it look like I want to look, about 100 pounds lighter… and put it on my fridge, in my wallet, or anywhere I look often.  I don’t have photoshop yet, so I went  to http://www.mvm.com and made myself a virtual model with a before and after version of me.  Another idea we thought of is every time we’re craving  something or tempted by something to picture a pound of fat.

That should gross us out enough to make a healthier choice!!

So, with my new motivators and a fresh start on the week, I’m going to start strong again tomorrow!!

As far as weight loss updates, Tony lost 6 pounds this week!!! YAY TONY!! And I will be able to check my weight loss progress on Wednesday night, when Tony brings over the official scale J Wish me luck!!

Tony's blog

Week 1.

Last year I was at my heavyiest  @ 350lbs. I got down to 300 lbs. 6 months ago, and now maintaining a weight of 317lbs. Having heart issues, it really is important to me to get down to my goal weight. My Dr would be happy about that too. I have gotten comfortable with my weight because it has never stopped me from doing anything I have wanted to do. I am now getting frustrated with the way I look in my clothes. I'd like to get on an airplane without worrying about if I need to use a seatbelt extender. Most importantly my health is at stake, and it is time for change. This contest will definitely help me get to where I need to be, and with the help of Amber I know I can do it. I know we both can do it together. With  the support of each other, and some motivating, and some military style drill sergeant tactics we will kill  this.  I'd like to work on eating better on the go. My food choices can become a bit more difficult since I have to limit salt intake, but as I discover more recipes, I think I will lose the temptation to eat poorly while on the run. In addition I will try to work into my hectic schedule a workout everyday.

Today I started off eating good with oatmeal and a banana for breakfast, a PBJ with natural peanut butter, sugar-free jelly, and 100% whole wheat bread. Before I went to class today, I did mess up with a plain double hamburger from McDonald's. After class I ate a chicken caesar salad. I will supplement my meals with protein shakes which helped me lose the 40lbs last year, and fruit and more vegetables. Next week's weigh-in I hope to see some results.

Thought we'd just check in and say 'hi'! Reading your blog... We have the same issue. Our weekends are the most difficult for us! We are thinking of planning/preparing food for the weekend so all we have to do is uncover or heat up a meal. Hope you find something that works for you! Best wishes for continued success in your journey of getting healthy!
